RULES FOR VISITORS

As with other NASCAR races, fans attending the Cook Out Southern 500 are expected to follow the policies put in place by event officials. Below is a quick rundown of the most important rules to know before you arrive.

What can’t I bring in?

To keep the event safe and enjoyable for everyone, certain items are not allowed past the entrance gates at Darlington Raceway. All bags, blankets, and personal items will be inspected as you enter. Anything that isn’t permitted will need to be taken back to your vehicle or thrown away–it can’t be held at the gate. Illegal items will be reported to law enforcement, and any banned items discovered inside the facility will be taken by security.

Items not permitted inside the facility include, but are not limited to:

• Aerosol cans (except for sunscreen, hand sanitizer, bug spray, or sunblock)
• Any firearm
• Cameras with detachable lenses or lenses longer than 6 inches
• Collapsible chairs
• Confederate flag displays
• Drones or unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)
• Dry ice
• Fireworks
• Foam or hard-shell coolers of any size
• Frisbees, beach balls, balloons, or any other thrown objects
• Glass or ceramic containers
• Hover boards, skateboards, roller skates, and bicycles
• Illegal substances of any kind
• Knives with blades longer than 3 inches when closed or over 6 inches when open
• Laser pointers
• Noise makers or air horns
• Obscene or offensive clothing
• Seat cushions with metal parts
• Selfie sticks
• Strollers larger than umbrella-style collapsible strollers
• Tripods or monopods, whether solid or collapsible
• Umbrellas
• Utility tools or multi-tools with knife blades longer than 3 inches
• Wagons

What can you bring?

To help ensure a smooth entry process, please follow these guidelines for what you can bring into the venue:

• Backpacks (one per person, not exceeding 18"x18"x14") or clutch bags/fanny packs (no larger than 4.5"x6.5")
• Binoculars, headsets, scanners, and cameras (lens must be 6 inches or smaller and non-detachable), which may be worn around the neck, on a belt, or carried in a clear bag
• Cigarettes and lighters
• Clear bags containing pre-packaged, sealed food and beverages – including alcoholic drinks (no glass containers)
• Collapsible, umbrella-style strollers only
• Cooler bags (soft-sided only, maximum size 14"x14"x14"; one per person)
• Ice
• iPads, tablets, and laptop computers
• Insulated cups (up to 64 oz. in size)
• National flags attached to thin wooden sticks (no thicker than a pencil) – must not block the view of other spectators.
• Seat cushions without any metal frames or components
• Service animals
• Sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitizer, and bug spray in aerosol, gel, or liquid form

Please be prepared for security screening at the entrance. Following these guidelines will help make entry quicker and easier for everyone.
